MY DEAR LORD JESUS, MAKE ME TO BE LIKE YOU
Composed by Z. A. Ogunsanya, 14/2/2016. I originally composed stanza one on 14/2/2016 as a chorus for a song titled “Though Jesus is God”. But because I forgot that it was a chorus to another song I had written, I wrote the rest stanzas on my bed, early in the morning, while hearing a message of my containing this stanza one, on 16/2/2019. What I did after realizing that it was a chorus to another song, is to change the first line from “My Father Jesus” to what is here now “My dear Lord Jesus”. I now have two songs instead of one.
-
My dear Lord Jesus, make me to be like you
To be like You in all my thoughts
To be like You in all my words
To be like You in all my actions
Jesus, my dear Lord Jesus
Please Lord, make me to be like You. -
My Saviour Jesus, make me to live like you
To live like You in my household
To live like You in my work place
To live like You wherever I am
Jesus, my Saviour Jesus
Please Lord, make me to live like You. -
My Shepherd Jesus, make me to pray like you
To pray like You believingly
To pray like You with seriousness
To pray like You meaningfully Lord
Jesus, my Shepherd Jesus
Please Lord, make me to pray like You. -
My gracious Jesus, make me to love like you
To love like You genuinely Lord
To love like You all my neighbours
To love like You all my enemies
Jesus, my gracious Jesus
Please Lord, make me to love like You. -
My Master Jesus, make me to serve like you
To serve like You my God my King
To serve like You and do Your work
To serve like You fellow believers
Jesus, my Master Jesus
Please Lord, make me to serve like You.
