HEAVENLY PADLOCK OH LORD PUT ON MY MOUTH

Ps. 141:3 Set a watch, O LORD, before my mouth; keep the door of my lips.

Refrain: Heavenly padlock (O Lord), put upon my mouth
                 So that my tongue may be, under Your full control
                 Heavenly padlock (O Lord), put upon my mouth
                 That I may only talk, when it is necessary
                 That I may only say, that which is necessary.

1. For Your word says dear Father
    There is time to talk
    There is time to be silent
    Too much talking will
    Always lead to sin.

2. For by thy words thou shalt be
    Justified and by
    Thy words thou shalt be condemned
    This is the verdict
    Of Your word my God.

3. For he that keepeth his mouth
    Keepeth his life too
    He that openeth wide his lips
    Shall have destruction
    Is what Your word says.

4. For if any seems to be
    Very religious
    But control not his own tongue
    He deceives himself
    Worshipping in vain.

5. For the rich man cried in hell
    Father Abraham
    Let Lazarus bring water
    To drop on my tongue
    That is burning now.

6. For he that will love life and
    Also see good days
    Must bring tongue under control
    Must speak no guile but
    Only what is good.

7. For no corrupt word should come
    Out of our mouths
    But that which can edify
    And will minister
    Grace to the hearers.
