Introduction
Isa 30:29 Ye shall have a song, as in the night when a holy solemnity is kept; and gladness of heart, as when one goeth with a pipe to come into the mountain of the LORD, to the mighty One of Israel. 30 And the LORD shall cause his glorious voice to be heard, and shall shew the lighting down of his arm, with the indignation of his anger, and with the flame of a devouring fire, with scattering, and tempest, and hailstones.
Singing is good. Israel was fond of composing and singing songs in every important occasions: such as thanksgiving, triumph and other significant occasions. According to Job.38:4, angels sang together during the time of the creation of the world. We are told in Mt.26:30 that our Lord Jesus and His disciples sang an hymn before He went to the cross. This suggested that they use to sing before then. The book of revelation says that we are going to do a lot of singing when we get to heaven. Some of the songs the angels of heaven will not know and therefore they won’t be able to sing along with us.
Why Should We Be Singing as Believers?
● We are specifically commanded in the Holy Bible not only to be singing but also to be learning and singing new songs.
● Good singing is powerful and very useful: there is no heart it cannot melt.
● Singing is beneficial to the Christian life:
a. Singing good songs will always remind us of the goodness of the Lord.
b. Singing has the capability of removing burdens and sorrows from the believers’ hearts.
c. Singing is capable of opening the windows of heaven nd releasing the anointing of God upon us.
d. Singing is a good aid to prayer: Singing the right songs will help us to express our heart feeling to God.
James 5:13 Is any among you afflicted? let him pray. Is any merry? let him sing psalms.
The command to sing in the Bible also shows more of the benefits of singing. Let us look at some of the Scriptures that talk about this:
Ps 81:1 Sing aloud unto God our strength: make a joyful noise unto the God of Jacob. 2 Take a psalm, and bring hither the timbrel, the pleasant harp with the psaltery. 3 Blow up the trumpet in the new moon, in the time appointed, on our solemn feast day.
According to this scripture we are not only to sing but we are also to make sure we sing aloud with musical instruments.
Neh 8:10 Then he said unto them, Go your way, eat the fat, and drink the sweet, and send portions unto them for whom nothing is prepared: for this day is holy unto our Lord: neither be ye sorry; for the joy of the LORD is your strength.
Here we are told how the joy of the Lord will bring us strength. One of the greatest ways through which one can experience and express the joy of the Lord is through singing:
Ps 95:1 O come, let us sing unto the LORD: let us make a joyful noise to the rock of our salvation. 2 Let us come before his presence with thanksgiving, and make a joyful noise unto him with psalms.
The Bible says that we should sing and make melody in our hearts:
Eph 5:19 Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord
The production of this book is actually a way of contributing in my small way, to the wonderful songs the people of God have been singing for centuries.
This hymn book has three major parts as follows:
1. English Hymns: These are over 40 in number.
2. Yoruba Hymns: These are around 30.
3. Choruses and Worship songs: These are more than One Hundred and are sub-divided into 6 parts of:
a. English worship songs,
b. English and yoruba worship songs,
c. Yoruba worship songs,
d. English choruses,
e. English and yoruba choruses and
f. Yoruba choruses.
God gave me most of these songs while leading the worship in the church, while praying personally and while meditating on the word of God. I have not been a worldly musician, not even a member of the choir in the church where I gave my life to Jesus. Therefore I cannot claim to be an expert. Nevertheless, I know that these songs are inspired by God and will be very good, not only for personal devotion but more especially for church worship. We use it for congregational singing in my church (Bible Pattern Church). I have also advice members of my church to regularly make singing from the song book and the likes part of their daily quiet time. The recorded cassettes of the songs is sold along with the book so that there will be no difficulty knowing the tunes. I want to strongly recommend it for use in churches and private worship. To sing songs like these is to obey the word of God. The following is for your meditation:
Ps 9:11Sing praises to the LORD, which dwelleth in Zion: declare among the people his doings.
Ps 30:4 Sing unto the LORD, O ye saints of his, and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.
1 Chr 16:9 Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him, talk ye of all his wondrous works.
Ps 30:4 Sing unto the LORD, O ye saints of his, and give thanks at the remembrance of his holiness.
Ps 33:3 Sing unto him a new song; play skilfully with a loud noise.
Ps 47:6 Sing praises to God, sing praises: sing praises unto our King, sing praises.
Ps 66:2 Sing forth the honour of his name: make his praise glorious.
Ps 96:2 Sing unto the LORD, bless his name; shew forth his salvation from day to day.
Ps 98:1 O sing unto the LORD a new song; for he hath done marvellous things: his right hand, and his holy arm, hath gotten him the victory.
Ps 105:2 Sing unto him, sing psalms unto him: talk ye of all his wondrous works.
Jer 20:13 Sing unto the LORD, praise ye the LORD: for he hath delivered the soul of the poor from the hand of evildoers.
Zeph 3:14 Sing, O daughter of Zion; shout, O Israel; be glad and rejoice with all the heart, O daughter of Jerusalem.
Heb 2:12 Saying, I will declare thy name unto my brethren, in the midst of the church will I sing praise unto thee.

I WANT TO SAY THANK YOU LORD
Chrs: I want to say thank you Lord
Thank you Jesus my Saviour
I know no one else like you
Thank you, thank you, thank you Lord (2ice)
1. When I came as a sinner
You saved, healed and made me whole
Now that I am born again
You are still my caretaker.
2. Everyday, every moment
Every time and everywhere
You are always there for me
That is why I will not fail.
3. You ‘re the great and mighty God
There’s no mountain so too high
There’s no valley so too deep
That you cannot take care off.
4. There’s no trouble anywhere
There’s no problem in my life
That you cannot take away
Lord, I put my trust in you.
5. In-spite of Satan’s roaring
The attacks of his demons
The tempting of his children
No evil will come near me.
6. You walked on the ragging sea
You died on the rugged cross
To take care of your people
What a caring Lord you are.
7. In your Father’s glorious home
A mansion made you for me
When I leave this world at last
I’ll live forever with you.
