BLESSED JESUS MAKE ME LIKE YOU
Composed by Z. A. Ogunsanya, 19/1/2019. On my bed as I was preparing to sleep, I suddenly heard my heart humming this tune. I immediately thought of a corresponding message and started the composition of the song. It was after completing the writing of the lyric of the song within around one hour, that I remembered that I had written a song with a similar (though not perfectly the same) tune, titled “Rock of ages be my guard”. God is great.
1. Blessed Jesus make me like You
In thoughts, in words, in actions
Make me to live just like You Lord
Everyday I spend on earth.
Chorus: Reconfigure me oh Lord
To conform to Your image
Take away all my selfishness
And make me like You truly.
2. Blessed Jesus make me like You
In serving God genuinely
Make me to love and worship God
With everything I possess.
3. Blessed Jesus make me like You
In prayers and fellowship
Make me to always read Your word
And obey it all the time.
4. Blessed Jesus make me like You
In meekness and holiness
Make me to be lowly like You
Treating all men with respect.
5. Blessed Jesus make me like You
In love, care and good doings
Make me to love both friends and foes
Both young and old everywhere.
6. Blessed Jesus make me like You
In the work of soul winning
Make me to spend and be spent Lord
To help men to become saved.
7. Blessed Jesus make me like You
In loving Your Father’s home
Make me to always be ready
For the mansions over there.
Heb. 12:14 Follow peace with all men, and holiness, without which no man shall see the Lord: 15 Looking diligently lest any man fail of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up trouble you, and thereby many be defiled; Eph. 4:1 I therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you that ye walk worthy of the vocation wherewith ye are called, 2 With all lowliness and meekness, with longsuffering, forbearing one another in love; 3 Endeavouring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. Col. 3:12 Put on therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, bowels of mercies, kindness, humbleness of mind, meekness, longsuffering;13 Forbearing one another, and forgiving one another, if any man have a quarrel against any: even as Christ forgave you, so also do ye. 14 And above all these things put on charity, which is the bond of perfectness. 15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to the which also ye are called in one body; and be ye thankful.
